Two people on the train have been talking almost the whole way home. One gets up to leave.
“It was a pleasure to meet you!”
“It was great to meet you too.”
Then these two strangers hugged.

“Do things to feed the soul, not the ego.”
Old man to little girls passing out flyers for a charity,
“Oh gosh stop being so nice, would ya?! Go get in trouble or something! This is so wonderful girls, you’re making a change and I’d love to help.”
“Oh it was tough, but I feel very accomplished.”
Grocery shopping today. Two men next to me talked about what kind of pasta to buy when a woman that clearly knew them bumped their cart and said,
“Hey strangers, haven’t seen you in a while! How’s it going, when are you getting married?”
“We already got married! November.”
“Oh shut up! I am so happy for you guys.”
“We are too, we are too.”
I was leaving my apartment building when I passed a guy who I often see coming and going. He was with a friend and they walked past me but then he turned around and said,
“you’re really gorgeous, you know that?”
I just smiled and said thank you.
Talk about a day brightener.
“How was your weekend?”
“I was busy so I couldn’t go out, but all of my friends did and it sounds like they had a really great time so that’s awesome and that’s what counts.”
I was walking to a rehearsal when two old women greeted each other outside of a local restaurant,
“Oh, hello! I haven’t seen you in ages!”
“It’s only been two days.”
“That’s long enough.”
